Artist Statement
Professional Practice
My artwork is ceramic based. Ceramics is a very technically challenging material, as there is many different ways in which to use clay to make a piece of functional or non-functional artwork. My work is mostly non-functional, sculptural work. I started working with ceramics when I studied at the Northern Regional College Ballymena (2006). I mostly created hand built ceramics such as pots, bowls, lamps, etc. I then went on to study in the University of Ulster, Belfast (graduated in 2010). My work at the university explored more technically challenging methods of ceramics such as molding, throwing, skilled carving, paper clay etc.In my first and second year at university I focused on mold making and in my final year I started making figurative sculptural work.
My work like many artists is about exploring my point-of-view of the world I live in. I focus on the different issues that affect me and express them to the public in the form of art.
At the moment I am making functional ceramic ware that is for sale to the public.

Community Teaching
I have been teaching in community organisations across Northern Ireland for over a year now. The age range I teach can be anything from 6 - 50+ years and as you can see on my CV I have experience teaching across a range of youth and senior organisations. I enjoy teaching and working with the public. With any free time I have between projects I volunteer as an art teacher in Magherafelt Volunteer Center and here I teach arts and crafts to adults with learning difficulties and I also volunteer as a youth leader at a local youth club. I enjoy challenges and developing not only my artistic skills but also my social skills.
My community projects vary from a one off session to a ten-week project. The cost of these projects depend on the duration, the number of students and on the materials needed. If you are interested in running a ceramics project or want to find out more information please go to my contact page.
